Woman docked for allegedly stealing N285,000 from POS agent
A 21- year- old woman, Auwawu Abubakar, on Friday appeared in an Iyaganku
Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing N285,000 from a Point of Sale (POS) agent.
The police charged Abubakar, who resides in Sabo area of Mokola, Ibadan, with conspiracy and theft.
The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Gbemisola Adedeji, told the court that the defendant and others at large on July 27, at about 3.30pm at Sabo, stole the money from a POS operator, Aliu Sheriff .
The prosecution said that the defendant asked Sheriff to transfer N285, 000 to three different accounts and he did.
”The defendant refused to pay Sheriff and feigned mental illness” the prosecution said.
The offence, she said, contravenes the provisions of sections 390 (9) and 516 of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Vol.II, Laws of Oyo State 2000.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Magistrate Olajumoke Akande admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N75, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Akande adjourned the matter until Nov. 16, for hearing.
