Cowry Asset MD, others to speak at annual Power Conference
THE Managing Director of Cowry Asset Management Limited, one of Nigeria’s leading investment banking firms, Mr. Johnson Chukwu is set to present a paper on “Private Equity as tool for building the electricity sector of the future” at the 19th annual Power and Electricity World Africa conference in South Africa.
The event which holds between the 15th and 16th of March at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg also has two other Nigerians as keynote speakers. They are Dr. Haliru Dikko, Head, Market, Competition and Rates Division Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) and John Kingsley Amaechi Achife, Executive Director Distribution Services, Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company, Nigeria.

Issues to be discussed at the Conference would centers on Africa’s energy future such as formulating standards for integrating renewable energy into the grid, how to secure investment with limited strings attached, Private equity as the tool for building the electricity sector of the future and a lot more.
The Conference which is organized by Terrapinn, a World leader in business events with offices in London, New York, Signapore, Sidney, Dubai and Johannesburg would have in attendance global leaders in the Energy sector such as Dr. Dirk Smit, Vice President Exploration Technology, Chief Scientist, Innovation and R&D, Royal Dutch Shell Plc, The Netherlands; Prof. Daniel Kammen, Distinguished Professor of Energy, University of California, United States. Also, to attend the conference are some serving and past African energy ministers including H.E. James Musoni Minister, Ministry of Infrastructure, Rwanda, H.E. Henry Olufumi Macauley, Minister, Ministry of Energy, Sierra Leone, H.E. Bruno Kapandji Kalala, Minister, Ministry of Energy and Water Resources, DRC.
