China denies imitating U.S vaccine research
China on Monday denied imitating vaccine research model of the United States (US). The Department of Information stated that claims by a United States official that the China is trying to copy America’s research on Coronavirus vaccine and therapy is false.
China Foreign Ministry Spokesperson-Director General of Department of Information, Hua Chunying, made the denial in a tweet.
She had remarked, ‘interesting to hear some US officials talking about the story of vaccine. Is this the normal logic that if anyone has something better than mine, then, it must be stolen from me.’
Chunying tweeted, “Remember, China has 5000 years of history while the US has less than 250.”
Robert O’Brien, U.S. National Security Advisor, had said that the country was most likely to develop a Covid-19 vaccine before China, but said China could steal the knowledge from the US.
“It’s been reported that the Chinese have engaged in espionage to try and find the research and the technologies that we’re working on both for a vaccine and a therapy,” O’Brien, had said.
The statement deepened the resentment between US and China over the coronavirus controversy.
U.S. has continued to blame China for the spread of coronavirus across the world which China has consistently denied.
