How 1 out of 21 passengers survived fatal accident
Twenty passengers of two commercial vehicles burnt to death in an accident at Huturu Village on Bauchi-Kano road on Tuesday.
The Bauchi State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Yusuf Abdullahi, confirmed that 21 persons were in the two commercial vehicles, while 20 were killed and the driver of one of the vehicles survived the crash.
According to him, a Volkswagen Golf 3, with registration number SHD-184YU, collided with a Sharon minibus conveying passengers and goods.
Abdullahi said 11 males, five females, one male child and three female children were burnt to ashes in the accident, adding that the surviving driver was taken to the Kafin Madaki Hospital.
The remains of those burnt beyond recognition were buried at Huturu.
“The accident was caused by a speed violation. It happened at about 11:30 am on Tuesday at Huturu Village, along Bauchi to Kano road.
“Our men got the report at about 11:38 am and we got to the scene at about 11:50 am. A driver was injured, and 20 others were killed and burnt to ashes,” he said.
