Bianca Ojukwu marks 26th anniversary of ‘Ezeigbo Gburugburu, Iyom’ chieftaincy titles
Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu, the widow of Biafran leader, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, has shared photos from the day they were conferred with the traditional titles of Eze Igbo and Iyom Onwa Eze Igbo respectively.
The former Nigerian ambassador to Spain recalled the glamour of the ceremony.
She said, ”It was a day of pomp and ceremony, and a congregation of the premier traditional rulers of Igboland 26 years to this day, as Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu was conferred the traditional title of ‘Ezeigbo Gburugburu ‘ by the Adama Nri, traditional custodians of the original Ofo Nri-Menri and Alo Nri-Menri located at Nri, (considered the traditional homeland of Ndigbo) which are symbols of kingship, authority and power respectively throughout Igboland, and which the Adama have guarded jealously at the sanctuary at Nri from time immemorial.”
