Flood overflows vehicles, washes two to unknown location in Lagos
The rainfall on Sallah day resulted in massive flooding in Lagos State which overflowed moving cars on the road in some parts of the state.
At Orile Agege, two vehicles, a Lexus jeep and a Toyota car, conveying six persons were overflowed by rainwater gushing out from an uncompleted canal, washing the vehicles off the road at Oyatoki Street, with the occupants.
The urgent intervention of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) resulted in the rescue three occupants of the cars, the fourth person was said to have jumped out one of the vehicles during the search and rescue operations, and NEMA officials quickly drew him up to safety. Two persons were declared missing.
The search and rescue operations were carried out by combined teams of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), and the fire service, including local volunteers.
Several locations in Lagos State were also plunged into flood by the rainfall that lasted for longer hours of the day. The locations include Ojodu Berger, Ogba, Ikosi-Ketu, Agege-Iju-Ishaga road, Gbagada, Toyin roundabout, Ipodo, Majekodumi Street in Ikeja, Surulere, Ikorodu, etc.
