Fabiyi opens up on relationship with Princess, Baba Ijesha

Nollywood actor and producer, Yomi Fabiyi, has opened up on his relationship with comedian, Damilola Adekoya, popularly known as Princess after Baba Ijesha whom he backed was convicted for indecent treatment of Princess’ foster daughter and sexual assault of the minor among other offences by the court.

Recall that two months ago, Baba Ijesha was convicted for indecent treatment of a child and sexual assault of a minor between 2013 and 2014 among other offences by the court.

He was, thereafter, sentenced to serve a five-year jail term. Through his counsel, Baba Ijesha later approached the court for post-conviction bail, pending the determination of his appeal at the Lagos Division of the Court of Appeal.

In an interview with media personality Morayo Afolabi-Brown on Your View TV show, Fabiyi he does not need owe the comedian an apology for supporting fellow actor Baba Ijesha.

“Naturally I don’t think I owe an apology because there was that misconception about what I was actually standing for. And I’m of the opinion that Nigerians were not raised with basic ideas and tenets of human rights. We were not raised to understand that when an issue is brought up, the key actors in any case deserve their right to be protected.

“When I notice that the right of the victim and complainant is given to them, why should anybody feel sad or feel bad that I am agitating that the right of the defendant should also be upheld.”

After the conviction, the Princess took to social media to rain curses on Yomi Fabiyi and others who supported Baba Ijesha during the trial.

Baba Ijesha through his counsel, later approached the court for post-conviction bail, pending the determination of his appeal at the Lagos Division of the Court of Appeal.

An Ikeja Special Offences Court will on Monday rule on a bail application filed by Olanrewaju James, also known as Baba Ijesha, whether the convict has met special circumstances for the court to grant him bail.

Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo fixed the date after taking arguments from both the prosecuting and defence counsel.

The bail application is sequel to the jail term that was handed down to Baba Ijesha by Justice Taiwo, who sentenced him to a five-year concurrent jail term.
