Osun Election Tribunal resolves to hold accelerated hearing on petition filed by defeated Gov Oyetola
The Osun Governorship Election Petition Tribunal on Monday resolved to hold accelerated hearing on the petition brought before it by Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, candidate of the All Progress Congress (APC), challenging the victory of Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the July 16 governorship election. The tribunal chairman, Justice Tertsea Kume, in his Pre-hearing report ruling at the sitting in Osogbo on Monday, ordered all parties to the petition against Sen. Ademola Adeleke, to file schedule of witnesses within 24 hours to the Tribunal’s sitting.
The tribunal scheduled to sit on October 26, indicated that it would be sitting every Saturday, including public holidays to enable it conclude the matter on time.
Justice Kume indicated that the tribunal would sit between 10.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. from Monday to Friday, except Friday when the tribunal will close its proceedings by 1.00 p.m.
“The tribunal will also sit on Saturdays and public holidays depending on the exigency of the circumstances.”
The Judge noted that time agreed by parties for the evidence of witnesses would be maintained.
Justice Kume, then, adjourned the commencement of full hearing to October 26.
