Several injured as traders, Area boys clash at Alaba International market
Pandemonium broke out at the popular Alaba International market in Lagos this morning October 19, as traders clashed with area boys.
Unconfirmed reports claim the traders are against the unnecessary demand of money by the area boys also known as Agberos in the area.
According to information made available to Lagos reporters, Area Boys in the early hours of the day decided to fight back following the move by the Lagos State Government to clear the roads around the market of illegal loading by commercial buses and traders displaying their ways illegally.
This took place on Tuesday when a task force cleared the area.
However, according to available information, the Area Boys decided to fight back in the early hours of Wednesday in order to restore their livelihood, which they earned from collecting money from the commercial bus drivers.
The spokesperson of the Lagos state police command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, says the police are working to restore order in the area.
Some persons injured in the fracas have been taken to the hospital for treatment
