Eid-El-Kabir: Osun Gov. Adeleke escapes attack in Osogbo
The executive governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, on Wednesday, June 28, escaped an alleged assassination attempt during the traditional Eid prayers at the Osogbo Eid praying ground.
DailyPost reports that, the stage was set for the prayers which was a traditional part which marks the beginning of the festival. The Chief Imam leading the prayers would stay in the front, while other dignitaries would occupy the second row.
It was gathered that the second row is always reserved for the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun, the governor and other leading politicians and notable sons of Osogbo.

However, trouble started when Adeleke arrived at the venue. A media aide to the Governor, Sarafa Ibrahim alleged that thugs hired by former Senator Ajibola Basiru attacked Governor Adeleke at the Osogbo Eid prayer ground.
According to him, “They came with machetes and all sorts of w£apons at the Eid prayer ground.
