Man rendered unconscious by relatives after beating wife to death
A Jos man, Samson Wassa, has reportedly bëaten his wife, Janet, to deãth over a marital issue.
The incident happened in the evening of Tuesday the 4th of July, 2023, in the Furaka area of Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The metal fabricator is reported to be in the habit of habitually beating his wife over minor or major issues.
Trouble started when he returned back home at about 11pm apparently under the influence of alcohol.
Neighbours heard the woman crying for help and intervened, only to see the woman lying motionless on the floor.
Thinking that the woman had only fainted as she usually does when such beatings from her husband occurred, they pacified the man. But on discovering that the woman was unresponsive and presumed dead, they informed her relatives who rushed to the scene.
Neighbors and relatives then turned on him and bēat him till he was in a coma.
The corpse of Janet has been deposited at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH ) mortuary, Samson was taken to another hospital where he is reported to have woken from the coma, while the case has been reported to the Nasarawa Police Station, Jos.
