Victim hails EFCC after recovery of over N900,000 from suspected fraudsters

One Juliet Obodo has hailed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for the recovery of her N970,000 from alleged Internet fraudsters.

Obodo expressed appreciation to the commission upon receiving a bank draft for the money that was fraudulently withdrawn from her bank account.

She said: “EFCC has made me happy, they have wiped away my tears.

EFCC thank you, She added .

God will empower you to fish out this wicked and evil people that are doing this bad thing.

As contained in a statement by the commission on Monday, the bank draft was presented to her on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 by the Benin Zonal Commander of the EFCC, Assistant Commander of the EFCC, ACE1 Kanu Idagu , National Daily Newspaper gathered.

The statement added that the presentation of the bank draft followed an investigation by the commission after she filed a petition to the EFCC in 2023.

The petition partly reads: “I was just receiving a debit alert, debit alert on my phone.

By the time I rushed to my bank to complain, they had debited me of N970,000.

“The bank could not help me and that was why I came to EFCC.

And when I was coming, I was not even sure because I didn’t know anybody.

I was crying because all my money and the money I borrowed to do my business which is to supply sand was gone.”

Meanwhile, presenting the bank draft, the EFCC zonal commander said some of the fraudsters that stole Obodo’s money have been arrested and will be charged to court.

He further reiterated the commission’s commitment to arrest and prosecute fraudsters and settle their victims.

He said: “As much as possible, we will ensure fraudsters are apprehended and prosecuted and victims are restituted where possible.

It’s a commitment we are determined to pursue, National Daily Newspaper confirmed.
