Israeli airstrike kills Hezbollah Commander in Beirut amid rising tension
An Israeli airstrike on the southern suburbs of Beirut on Tuesday killed Ibrahim Qubaisi, a senior Hezbollah commander responsible for the group’s rocket division, along with five others, according to local sources.
The strike marks a major blow to Hezbollah, the Iran-backed militant group, which has been facing heavy losses in recent Israeli operations.
The attack targeted a five-story building in the Hezbollah-controlled Ghobeiry neighborhood, causing severe damage to its top floor.
This is the second consecutive day of Israeli airstrikes on Beirut, intensifying concerns of a broader conflict. Lebanon’s health ministry confirmed six deaths and 15 injuries from the assault.
This escalation comes amidst nearly a year of conflict between Israel and Hamas, another Iran-backed group based in Gaza.

Hezbollah has been launching rockets into northern Israel in support of Hamas, triggering stronger retaliatory strikes from the Israeli military.
Israeli military chief Herzi Halevi warned of intensified operations against Hezbollah, stating that Israel must pursue “continued, intense action in all arenas.”
Meanwhile, Lebanese officials reported over 500 deaths from Israeli airstrikes on Monday, signaling a dangerous rise in violence that could destabilize the region further.
As tensions soar, both sides prepare for the possibility of a wider confrontation, with thousands of civilians in Lebanon and Israel fleeing their homes amid the escalating violence.
