Court remands man, 21, over alleged burglary
An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, on Thursday, ordered the remand of one Olamide Adekunle, 21, charged with burglary of a house at 5:30 a.m.
Adekunle, whose address was not provided was charged with burglary, stealing and malicious damage.
The Magistrate, Olaolu Olanipekun, did not take the plea of the defendant for want of jurisdiction.
He directed the police to return the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice and subsequently adjourned the case until Nov. 25, for mention.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, ASP Anthony Igori told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offences on Monday at Ayegun Oleyo area in Ibadan.
Igori said that the defendant broke into the house of one Ahmed Ademola at 5:30 a.m. and stole his laptop, phone, watch and jewellery worth N1 million.
He said that the defendant also damaged the burglary on the window of the complainant’s apartment worth N100, 000.
According to him, the offences contravened Sections 411, 390 (9) and 451 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
