Lamido tackle Tinubu’s vacation amidst economic hardship in Nigeria
Former Jigawa State Governor Alhaji Sule Lamido has publicly condemned President Bola Tinubu’s decision to take a two-week vacation in the United Kingdom, questioning the president’s sense of empathy towards the challenges faced by Nigerians.
Tinubu departed for the UK on Wednesday, with his Special Advisor on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, announcing that the trip is part of the president’s annual leave.
Onanuga stated that Tinubu intends to utilize this time as a “working vacation” and a retreat to reflect on the government’s economic reforms, with a planned return to Nigeria after the leave.
In response, Lamido took to Facebook, posting a message titled “Deaf, Dumb, Confounded,” where he expressed his concerns over the president’s vacation amidst worsening economic conditions and insecurity in Nigeria.

He asked, “Does President Tinubu have the human empathy, compassion, love, care, and concern to ponder and reflect on Nigerians’ dire situations while in the comfort of Europe?”
Lamido’s remarks resonate with widespread frustrations among Nigerians who are grappling with significant economic challenges, including rising inflation and insecurity issues.
Critics argue that the president’s choice to vacation abroad during such trying times reflects a disconnect from the realities faced by ordinary citizens.
This criticism highlights ongoing tensions between the Tinubu administration and its opponents, with calls for more responsive leadership that prioritizes the needs of the populace over personal leisure.
The former governor’s comments add to the growing discourse on governance and accountability in Nigeria, particularly as the country seeks to navigate its pressing socio-economic issues.
