Gunmen abduct FRSC official, demands N50m ransom
In a concerning incident in Enugu, gunmen have abducted an official of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Emeason Chima. Chima works with the RS4.211 unit located in Ugbokolo, part of the agency’s operations, and he was abducted on Saturday while driving near Maduka University, which is situated in Nsukka, Enugu State.
According to a senior official from the Federal Road Safety Corps who spoke to newsmen, these gunmen are demanding a hefty ransom of N50 million for the safe return of Chima. This particular official requested not to be named as they were not authorized to communicate with the media. It has been reported that Chima was driving by himself in his vehicle when he was attacked and subsequently abducted by the armed men.

In the meantime, an internal memo circulated within the agency has confirmed the details surrounding this intended kidnapping. The memo indicates that the kidnappers, while using the victim’s mobile phone, made a ransom demand of N50 million. Emmanuel Al-Hassan, who is the commander of the Ugbokolo unit, addressed the memo, stating, The command is in receipt of information about the kidnap of SRMA Emeason Chima.
The memo also provided specific details about the location of the incident, noting, the place of incidence is after Maduka University on the Nsukka Enugu Road through OPI junction in Enugu State. The information gathered so far has corroborated that Chima was driving alone in his Toyota saloon car at the time of the kidnapping.
