World sports journalists body retain Mitchell Obi as VP

On the final day of the 80th AIPS Congress, elections were held for the next four year of the Executive Committee (2017- 2021).
National Daily gathered that Mitchell Obi has been elected as President, AIPS Africa at the elections held in Sochi, Russia.
The assembly backed proposals for a consensus to pick the 13 members for the AIPS Africa Executive Committee following the withdrawal of three candidates Kabulo Muana Kabulo(DR Congo), Mamadou Koume(Seneh) and Morad Moutaouakkil (MOR) in favour of Mitchell Obi(Nigeria).
After reports of AIPS Africa meetings in Innsbruck 2012, and Dakar, coordinated by AIPS Treasurer Jorge Ribeiro the assembly-endorsed members proposed by Mitchell Obi and also co-opted others who had been nominated for various posts.
The retain elected AIPS President said that he is committed to work closely with the present members and get more countries to join AIPS.
He told National Daily that they can bring back a voice of AIPS Africa that stands for the future of Sports. Together they can build a treasure that can take care, sincerely the growing needs of a blossoming field of sports journalists.

AIPS President Gianni Merlo was re-elected for what will be his fourth term, having run for the position of President unopposed. Esat Yilmaer from Turkey was re-elected for the position of first Vice President, while Jura Ozmec from Croatia was elected unopposed to take over the position of AIPS Treasurer from Austria’s Michael Kuhn.
The newly elected AIPS Executive Committee is: President: Gianni Merlo (Italy); First Vice President: Esat Yilmaer (Turkey); Treasurer: Jura Ozmec (Croatia); Vice Presidents: Evelyn Watta (Kenya); Nikolai Dologopolov (Russia); Loannis Daras (Greece); Hiji Al Mohammed (Qatar); AIPS Africa President Mitchel Obi (Nigeria); AIPS America President Gabriel Cazenave (Paraguay); AIPS Europe President Charles Camnezuli (Malta).

The body has members from various countries such as Seyed Abdolhamid Ahmadi (Iran); Zsuzsa Csisztu (Hungary); Vicente Dattoli (Brazil); Emanuel Fantaneanu (Romania); Hee Don Jung (Korea); Ahmadi Kawari Isa (Malaysia); Josef Langer (Austria), Amjad Amzaz Malik (Pakistan); Morad Moutaouakkil (Morocco); Juan Antonio Prieto (Spain); Jean Paul Savart (France); Hiroshi Takeuchi (Japan); Joze Zidar (Slovenia).
