NDLEA Ebonyi command seizes 55.947kg of illicit drugs, arrests 112 suspects
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Ebonyi Command has reported a significant haul of 55.947 kilograms of illicit substances and the arrest of 112 suspects between January and March 2025.
State Commander, Mr. Peter Ogar, confirmed the figures during an interview with the press in Abakaliki on Wednesday.
He stated that the arrests and seizures occurred across various locations in the state.
Among those arrested were 85 males and 27 females, aged between 16 and 76 years.
The Command also counselled 59 suspects, which included 45 males and 14 females, ranging in age from 21 to 76 years.
The seized drugs included 43.582 kg of Cannabis Sativa, 0.004 kg of Tramadol tablets, 0.400 kg of Tramadol (100mg, 1,189 capsules), and 0.207 kg of Diazepam (988 tablets).
Other substances recovered included 11.2 kg of monkey tail, 0.054 kg of methamphetamine, and 0.020 kg of Bromazepam (46 tablets).
Additionally, 0.244 kg of Pentazocine (84 ampoules) and 0.014 kg of heroin were confiscated.

Ogar also revealed that four individuals were convicted within the period, and one suspect was arrested with a locally-made pistol during a raid operation.
The suspect was subsequently handed over to the police for further investigation.
The Ebonyi NDLEA Commander emphasized the Command’s commitment to fighting drug abuse and trafficking in the state and called for increased collaboration from stakeholders to address drug-related issues.
He also highlighted the agency’s efforts to raise awareness, noting that several workshops and campaigns targeting young people, particularly secondary school students, were organized in all 13 local government areas of Ebonyi.
