INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, visits Nigerian High Commission in Gambia
The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Nigerian High Commission in Banjul, The Gambia.
Prof. Yakubu was warmly received by the Charge d’Affaires, Mr. Muhammad Marinasura Usman, alongside other senior diplomats and staff members of the High Commission.
The visit, part of the INEC Chairman’s engagements during his trip to The Gambia, was aimed at strengthening institutional ties and enhancing collaboration between Nigeria’s electoral body and its diplomatic missions abroad.

During the visit, Prof. Yakubu and Mr. Usman exchanged views on electoral processes, democratic consolidation in Africa, and the role of Nigerian diplomatic missions in supporting credible elections and protecting the rights of Nigerian citizens overseas.
