Missing Kaduna influencer Dadiyata confirmed dead after 6 years — Investigator

Abubakar Idris, popularly known as Dadiyata, a well-known social media influencer who went missing six years ago, has been confirmed dead following an independent investigation.

The revelation was made by investigative commentator and social critic, Damilola Adekunle, who shared the outcome of her findings via Facebook on Wednesday.

“It is with a heavy heart that I announce that after thorough investigations, I can confirm that Idris Abubakar, popularly known as Dadiyata, is officially dead. He was killed,” she wrote. Dadiyata was abducted at gunpoint from his home in Barnawa, Kaduna State, on August 2, 2019.

His disappearance sparked widespread outrage and suspicion of political motives, given his outspoken support for former presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso and criticism of key political figures.

On May 4, 2025, Adekunle had launched a ₦10 million reward for credible information about his fate, urging anyone with fact-based knowledge to come forward.

Since his abduction, his family and the public have received little information. His mother, who campaigned tirelessly for answers, d+ed in 2022 without knowing what happened to her son. Human rights group Amnesty International had repeatedly pressed the government for clarity on the case.

The confirmation of Dadiyata’s death marks a painful end to years of uncertainty and reignites calls for accountability over his disappearance.
