Nigeria records N12.59trn trade surplus in Q2 2026 — NBS
Nigeria recorded a N12.59 trillion merchandise trade surplus in the second quarter of 2026, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
The NBS disclosed this in its Foreign Trade Statistics Report released on Monday, showing a significant positive balance between the country’s exports and imports during the period.
According to the statistics agency, Nigeria’s total merchandise trade stood at N41.44 trillion in Q2 2026, representing a 5.61 percent increase compared with the N39.24 trillion recorded in the corresponding quarter of 2025.

The latest figure indicates continued growth in the value of Nigeria’s international merchandise transactions, with exports exceeding imports by N12.59 trillion during the quarter.
The trade surplus reflects the value of goods exported from Nigeria relative to goods imported into the country within the three-month period.
The NBS report provides an overview of Nigeria’s trade performance and highlights developments in the country’s external merchandise transactions during the quarter.
