TCN announces 4-hour blackout in parts of Lagos
Parts of Lagos are expected to experience a power outage on Tuesday as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) conducts scheduled maintenance on its Ikeja West/Ejigbo 132kV Transmission Line 1 at the Ejigbo Transmission Substation.
In a notice issued on Tuesday, TCN said the maintenance exercise would run from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., affecting approximately 40 megawatts of electricity load at the Ejigbo Transmission Substation.
The company said the planned outage was necessary to allow its maintenance crew to carry out routine work on the transmission line.

According to TCN, the Ikeja West/Ejigbo 132kV Transmission Line 2 would also be temporarily taken out of service to provide a safe working environment for the maintenance team.
The company, however, said measures had been put in place to reduce the impact of the exercise on electricity consumers.
“Airport load will be diverted to the Isolo Transmission Line to minimise the impact of the outage,” TCN stated.
The maintenance exercise is expected to affect electricity supply to areas served by the Ejigbo Transmission Substation during the four-hour period, although the extent of the disruption to individual communities will depend on the distribution arrangements.
TCN did not identify all the affected neighbourhoods in the notice provided.
The company advised that the exercise was part of routine maintenance intended to support the safe and reliable operation of the transmission network.
