Aregbesola’s man escapes assassination as battle with Oyetola intensifies
A chieftain of the APC in Osun State escaped a suspected assassination attempt on August 14.
Biyi Odunlade, former Commissioner for Youths, Sports and Special Needs in the Rauf Aregbesola administration, just stepped out when armed men swooped on his house around 8pm.
According to him, his wife, immediately locked herself in her room for safety, and their house help.
“They forced the gate open, shooting sporadically into the air and shouting ‘where is Biyi Odunlade?’. I had just stepped out of my residence,” Odunlade said.
Before the incident, Adelowo Adebiyi, the chairman of The Osun Progressives (TOP), a caucus loyal to ex-Gov Aregbesola said forces loyal to Gov Gboyega Oyetola planned to assassinate TOPs members.
Ghe Saturday night attack saw Odunlade’s cars and wife’s shop damaged, and valuables and cash carted away.
Aregbesola and his successor, both APC members, have been fighting supremacy war since the later came to office three years ago.
