Atiku defies threats from protestant PDP members, storm Edo for presidential campaign

The 2923 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has defied the threats from protestant PDP members in Edo State who had told him not to come to Edo for presidential campaign, giving the resolution of the int6rna; crisis in the party as the only condition Atiku would carry out his presidential campaign in the state.

Atiku on arrival at the Airport in Benin City with PDP the National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, and other members of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council, was welcome by large crowd of party supporters, including women and youth who came out with their drums to  demonstrate their solidarity ands support for the PDP presidential candidate.

The PDP supporters were led by Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, including Deputy Governor Philip Shuaibu and other PDP leaders in the state.

Atiku drove from the Airport to the palace of the Oba of Benin, his royal majesty, Oba Ewuare II, to pay homage to the royal father.

The Edo State Government had on Friday disclosed the uncovering of plots by some persons to disrupt PDP the presidential campaign in Benin City as was the case in Kaduna.

The Secretary to the State Government, Osarodion Ogie, in a statement emphasized that the government would ensure that those trying to disrupt the peace in the state are prosecuted in accordance with the law.
