Bandits storm community in Zamfara, kill 12, set Police vehicle ablaze
A gang of bandits on Thursday stormed Sakajiki community in Kaura Namoda Emirate, Zamfara State, killing over 12 persons, and destroying property of residents, including burning a police patrol van. The bandits’ operation was said to have been carried into the early hours of Friday.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Zamfara Police Command, Mohammed Shehu, was gathered to have acknowledged the invasion of the community, noting that the urgent response of the police deployed to the area minimized the figure of the casualties in the attack.
The bandits were said to had invaded Sakajiki community at about 9.00pm on Thursday and carried out their operations for long hours, sustained the operations till about 4.00am on Friday.
The bandits had burnt many shops, houses; set ablaze the building of a police post in the community, including many vehicles. One of the burnt vehicles was later identified as a police patrol van.
Several persons were said to have sustained serious injuries during the attack, while some others flee for safety.
