Dasukigate: EFCC nabs APC chieftain who got N100m of arms deal
A chieftain of the ruling APC who is part of the unfolding $2.1-billion-arms-deal bazaar has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Wednesday night at his residence in Abuja.
Jafaru Isa, a retired brigadier-general and former military administrator of Kaduna, got N100 million from the largesse, according to the EFCC.
Isa is also a chum of the embattled ex-NSA Sambo Dasuki and President Muhammadu Buhari in the heyday of the defunct CPC the president founded.
The anti-graft commission stormed Isa’s house around 9 pm Wednesday, just about a week he shrugged off EFCC’s invitation for questioning over some receipts from Dasuki.
The suspect was said to have written to the commission, through his lawyer, he wanted the questioning postponed because he lost a relative, and would need to attend to that.
The EFCC, however, felt Isa was stalling their investigation, and had to be brought in fast.
Isa is the first APC party man sucked in to the arms purchase scandal uncovered in the last administration of the PDP-led federal government.
The lynch-pin of the scandal, retired Col. Dasuki, had earlier said he would reveal top officials of the ruling APC that also shared in the booty.
