End of immunity, EFCC denies release of Obiano
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday denied release of former Governor Wilie Obiano of Anambra State from detention. EFCC Director of Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren, on Friday, stated that the report of the release of Obiano is fake news that should be disregarded.
EFCC arrested Obiano on Thursday at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on his way out of the country few hours after handing over to his successor, Governor Chukwuma Soludo. The former Anambra State governor has been on the watch list of the EFCC as the commission has been waiting patiently for him to exhaust his immunity.
