Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State has ordered immediate manhunt of killers of 25 Ondo travelers in the state for prosecution.

The governor in a statement by his media aide, Simon Makut, issued strong threat to “troublemakers bent on fomenting trouble in the state to desist;” noting that “the government will not allow any form of lawlessness to disrupt the peace of the state.”

Governor Lalong cautioned that attacks on innocent citizens, no matter their identities, will never be tolerated in Plateau State, adding that anyone found to be behind such attacks will be dealt with decisively to serve as a deterrent and restore public order.

The Governor, accordingly, “directed security agencies to swiftly identify and arrest perpetrators.”

The public relations officer of Operation Safe Haven, a military task force set up to maintain peace in Plateau State, Major Ishaku Takwa, disclosed that 12 persons have been arrested, a suspected of involvement in the attack and killing of the Ondo travelers in the state. He stated that normalcy has been restored in the area.
