What Are The Causes of Brown or Dark Urine?
1. Dehydration; this is actually one of the reasons why your urine is brown or dark in colour. Brownish urine is one of the signs of dehydration as a matter of fact it is the primary reason why most people’s urine change color to brown or dark. If your urine turns brown or dark yellow, do well to drink enough water and see if it will clear up but if it doesn’t, then it could be due to an underlying condition that needs to be examined or checked by medical professionals.
2. Liver Disease; this is another reason or cause of brown or dark urine in humans. Several liver diseases or conditions can lead to brown urine. Hepatitis is one of the liver problems that can actually cause a change in colour of a person’s urine. When hepatitis is not handled effectively it can cause liver cirrhosis, which is a far more deadly condition that has no cure, cirrhosis also causes a person’s urine to change colour to brown or dark yellow.
3. Hematuria; this is also referred to as blood on the urine that makes the urine appear dark or brown. Hematuria is usually due to a number of health condition including Kidney Cancer, urinary tract infections, bladder cancer, trauma, sickle cell disease, kidney disease and many other severe health problems. So make sure you get checked once you notice a drastic change in the colour of your urine to brown.
