Snakes are dreaded for their venomous bite which can cause severe pain or even result to death with appropriate management. Though not all snakes are venomous, a proper knowledge of managing a victim of snake bite could give him a chance to live again.

Common signs and symptoms of snake bite include severe burning pain at site of bite, swelling, redness, bruising, bleeding, changed sense of taste, nausea/vomiting/diarrhea, disturbed vision/dizziness, general body weakness which could extend to difficulty in breathing and eventually death in the absence of urgent care and attention.

The primary remedy is to give the victim an antivenom which however can only be gotten through medical care, which can at the same time lower the chance of survival. Thus, there’s need for adequate and urgent first aid intervention before proceeding to the hospital especially if it’s one that’s far from reach.
