Kano residents express readiness to receive COVID-19 vaccine
Kano residents have expressed their readiness to voluntarily receive the Coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine when the exercise begins in the state on Thursday.
Some of the residents who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano on Wednesday said that in spite of the fake news and assumptions about the vaccine, they would still receive it.
Mr Muhammad Bashir, a resident of Tudun Wazirchi in the municipality said that religious leaders had been advocating for people to receive the vaccination.
He said “We are submissive and strongly believe that our leaders will not mislead us, so we are complying with their orders.”
Another resident of Yamadawa area of Gwale, Mr Abubakar Saleh said he visited Imamu Wali Hospital on Monday to receive the vaccination, but was asked to return on Thursday.
“We understand that the vaccination is for our good health and protection, although people are still spreading a lot of misinformation about it,” he said.
A female vaccination worker at Imamu Wali Hospital at Jan bulo area of Gwale, who pleaded anonymity told our correspondent that people had been coming to ask for the vaccination.
She said “We have been surprised at the turn-out of people coming to ask if the vaccination has started since Monday and that is very impressive.”
NAN visits to many of the designated vaccination centres revealed that all is set for the commencement of the vaccination on Thursday.
