Miyetti Allah raises alarm bandits kill 40 Fulani vigilantes in Taraba forest
Bandits have invaded forests in Taraba State, killing vigilante groups formed by the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN). The Northeast Zonal Vice Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Umar Mafindi Danburam, therefore, raised alarm, alerting appropriate authorities that fleeing Zamfara bandits have invaded Taraba forests, ambushing and killing over 40 local vigilantes at Gassol Local Government Area, Taraba State.
Umar Danburam lamented that the vigilante group was formed to contain crimes but were ambushed and slaughtered by fleeing bandits from Zamfara State who now occupy some forests in Taraba State.
The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) Northeast Zonal Vice Chairman demanded the federal government to deploy air force fighter jets to Taraba State before situation gets out of control.
Danburam identified killers of the local vigilante members as “fleeing Fulani bandits from Zamfara” penetrating and occupying Taraba forests through Plateau State. The MACBAN leader requested the Taraba State government to assist them with logistics.
Chairman of local Vigilante in Taraba State expressed solidarity with the Fulani community in the state over the casualties. He, however, advised the Fulani vigilante to collaborate with the legitimate vigilante group in the state for proper training.
The Taraba State Police Command was said to have confirmed the invasion by bandits but disclosed that the police have chased the bandits out of the state.
