Oyebanji scores landslide victory in Fayose’s polling unit as APC dominates Afao-Ekiti

Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has recorded a symbolic and decisive victory at the polling unit of former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, in Saturday’s governorship election.

Oyebanji secured an overwhelming 448 votes out of 493 valid votes cast at Polling Unit 001, St. David’s Primary School/Maternity Area, Afao-Ekiti, located in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area.

The result shows a wide margin over his opponents, with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Dare Bejide, polling 37 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Wole Oluyede, managed just 4 votes. The Allied Democratic Party (ADP) also recorded 4 votes.

According to official figures contained in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Form EC8A, a total of 538 voters were accredited from 931 registered voters in the polling unit. Out of the total votes cast, 493 were valid, while 7 ballots were rejected.

The outcome is particularly notable given the political significance of the polling unit, situated in Afao-Ekiti, the hometown of former Governor Ayodele Fayose, one of the most influential political figures in the state.

The result form was duly signed by polling officials and party agents, as the collation of results continues across the state amid closely watched governorship contests in several polling units.a

Results Summary – Polling Unit 001, Afao-Ekiti:

APC (Biodun Oyebanji): 448 votes

ADC (Dare Bejide): 37 votes

PDP (Wole Oluyede): 4 votes

ADP: 4 votes

Total Valid Votes: 493

Rejected Votes: 7
