Plane crashes in Abuja
Two fighter jets of the Nigerian Air Force collided and crashed in Mpape, a satellite Town on the outskirt of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, while on military maneuver exercise in their flying practice for the 58th Independence Day Anniversary.
National Daily gathered that NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, in a statement on Friday narrated that one plane was seen crashing and caught in flame around Mashafa Road in Area 1 of Mpape, Abuja after a collision during flying practice.
“I wish to confirm an air incident involving two Nigerian Air Force aircraft taking part in the rehearsals for the 58th Independence Day Celebrations,” Daramola said on Friday.
The military have been on practice since the past one month in preparation for aerial battle display of the Nigerian Air Force during this year’s October 1 Independence Anniversary. No death was confirmed at the time of this report. Details of the air crash are being awaited from the Air Force authorities.
