Presidency 2023: APC Govs promise to support any consensus candidate Buhari endorses
The governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House, Abuja, on Wednesday, declared that they will support anyone President Buhari endorses for the national chairman and other positions at the party’s national convention on March 26.
The APC governors led to the meeting with the president by the national chairman of the Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State, disclosed that they have sorted out necessary decisions towards the March 26 national convention in Abuja.
Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State, Chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum (PGF), also said that President Buhari had suggested adoption of consensus candidate last month for the appointment of members of the National Working Committee (NWC) who are billed for election at the national convention. The PGF chairman, therefore, disclosed that APC governors have resolved to support adoption of consensus at the convention.
Seven aspirants had purchased nomination forms for the APC national chairman. The CECPC sub-committee screened the aspirants on Wednesday.
