The Rivers Elders and Leadership Forum (RIVLEF) has expressed its support for Governor Siminalayi Fubara, despite a recent Appeal Court judgment dismissing his appeal against a lower court ruling affirming the leadership of the Martin Amaewhule-led Rivers House of Assembly.

The three-member panel unanimously found Fubara’s appeal without merit, upholding the Federal High Court’s earlier decision that declared his case void due to procedural withdrawals.

The court ordered Fubara to pay N500,000 to each of the 13 respondents involved.

At a press conference in Port Harcourt, RIVLEF  Forum Chairman Chief Rufus Ada-George praised Fubara’s courage and commitment to democracy amid rising political tensions.

He criticized President Bola Tinubu for not addressing the role of Minister Nyesom Wike in the ongoing crises and emphasized the need for peace and law enforcement protection in the state.

Ada-George commended residents for their peaceful participation in recent elections and urged all political factions to respect the people’s choices.

The forum includes notable figures like retired Rear Adm. Ochegomie Fingesi and former Deputy Governor Dr. Gariel Toby, who voiced confidence in law enforcement’s ability to maintain order.
