Russian forces move on Kyiv, Zelenskyy warns Ukrainians will fight to death
After weeks of fighting around the Ukrainian capital city, Russian forces are advancing on Kyiv, and embattled Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has warned of what lies ahead.
“If they decide to carpet bomb and simply erase the history of this region … and destroy all of us, then they will enter Kyiv. If that’s their goal, let them come in, but they will have to live on this land by themselves,” Zelenskyy said late on Saturday.
Early on Sunday, sirens started blaring warning of airstrikes and missile attacks.
According to the president, about 1,300 Ukrainian troops have been killed.
This was the first time he would release casualty figures of the Ukrainian forces.
