Security guard jailed for armed robbery
Justice E. O Ajayi of Oyo State High Court, on Tuesday, sentenced a security guard, one Ojo Adeoye, to 10 years imprisonment for armed robbery.
Adeoye was arraigned on two charges of conspiracy and armed robbery, offences which contravened Sections 6 (b), 1(2)(a) of the Robbery and Firearms laws of the federation.
During court sitting, the state’s Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Oloso Olayiwola, told the court that the convict committed the offences with some others still at large on March 19, 2020, around 1:30 am, at the Idi-Osan area, Ibadan.
Olayiwola said, “The convict and his accomplices, while armed with guns and other dangerous weapons, robbed residents of the area of their cell phones and cash.
Justice Ajayi convicted Adeoye after the prosecution proved its case beyond all reasonable doubt.
Delivering judgement, Ajayi sentenced the convict to 10 years imprisonment for armed robbery and two years for conspiracy.
He held that the sentence would run concurrently and without an option of a fine.
