The privatization of the electricity sector in Nigeria merely shared the 36 states of the federation and the FCT between 11 companies registered as Distribution Coys (DISCOs).
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) provided lucid distribution of the states to the 11 DisCos.

2. EKEDC (Eko): Lagos
3. KDEDC (Kaduna): Kaduna, Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara
4. KEDC (Kano): Kano, Katsina, Jigawa
5. YEDC (Yola): Adamawa, Borno, Taraba, Yobe
6. JEDC (Jos): Bauchi, Benue, Gombe, Plateau
7. AEDC (Abuja): FCT, Kogi, Nasarawa, Niger
8. IBEDC (Ibadan): Kwara, Ogun, Osun, Oyo
9. BEDC (Benin): Delta, Edo, Ekiti, Ondo
