Sheriff accepts defeat in good faith
- Congratulates Makarfi, ready to build PDP
The controversial national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, succumbed the end of the road manifestation at the Supreme Court on Thursday, to abide by the new order in the party. Accordingly, he congratulated Senator Ahmed Makarfi, who the Supreme Court declared authentic National Chairman of the PDP in the unanimous judgment of the presiding judges.
The former Governor of Borno State further appealed to all stakeholders to join in rebuilding the party.
National Daily gathered that Sheriff on his Twitter handle acknowledged that the Supreme Court had spoken, advocating that all hands should be on deck to build the party.
He tweeted; “The Supreme Court has spoken. I congratulate Senator Makarfi. We must all put our hands together to channel a new course for the PDP.

“Moving forward, we must embrace true reconciliation, so as to be united as a formidable option to send the APC packing in 2019.
“This is the time to build the PDP and to focus on the future, which include reclaiming power from the APC.”
Shortly after the ruling, Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswil Akpabio, called on those who had left the party to return, describing the judgement as “No Victor, no Vanquished”.
