Tambuwal laments bandits killed 30 persons in attack on Goronyo
Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State on Monday lamented that bandits killed about 30 persons during the attack on Goronyo township, Goronyo Local Government Area, Sokoto State.
Governor Tambuwal hosting the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Farouk Yahaya, on a courtesy visit Monday, narrated: “between last night, yesterday evening till this morning, we were greeted with a very dastardly attack in Goronyo Local Government, particularly, Goronyo township, where scores and tens have lost their lives and still counting. We’re not sure of the figure. But it is 30 something.”
Gov. Tambuwal acknowledged that the army chief has come at a very trying moment for the army, the state, and the Nigerian nation. “We’re faced and bedeviled by many security challenges in our own area here, particularly banditry, kidnapping and other associated crimes,” Governor Tambuwal decried.
The Governor praying for the success of the army over the criminals, advocated synergy between the army and other security operatives in the state. He canvassed for the presence of more forces in Sokoto State, including the deployment of more resources.
Tambuwal promised that his administration would continue to support the army and other security operatives.
