On Friday, the Army revealed that troops successfully eliminated Haliru Buzu, a notorious terrorist kingpin, and several of his fighters in a well-executed operation on Thursday, September 12, 2024.
The Nigerian Army troop has announced a significant victory in its ongoing fight against terrorism. On Friday, the Army revealed that troops successfully eliminated Haliru Buzu, a notorious terrorist kingpin, and several of his fighters in a well-executed operation on Thursday, September 12, 2024.
The operation was carried out in Mayanchi village, located in the Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The targeted assault focused on a key crossing point used by the terrorists.
Despite encountering intense resistance, the troops were able to overpower Buzu and his associates with superior firepower.
In addition to neutralizing the terrorist threat, the troops seized a substantial cache of arms and ammunition, which included:
- 2 Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) guns
- 3 PKT guns
- 5 AK-47 rifles
- 479 rounds of PKT ammunition
- 366 rounds of 7.62mm (special) ammunition

- 29 AK-47 magazines
- 30 motorcycles
- 2 Android phones
- 2 Yeekee phones
The Army also destroyed the terrorists’ camp during the operation.
Troops are now engaged in further exploitation of the area to ensure that all remnants of the terrorist network are dismantled.
This successful offensive represents a crucial step forward in the battle against terrorism in the region, reflecting the Nigerian Army’s ongoing commitment to restoring peace and security.
