Zamfara civil defence corps dismisses news of 20 officers killed, burnt
Following a well circulated media reports based on an eyewitness’ account that Zamfara bandits ambushed, killed and burned 20 officers of the NSCDC, the civil defence corps authorities have made clarifications.
In a statement he released on Saturday, DSC Ikor Oche,
CDPRO, said on the 28th October 2021 at about 12:00 hours , a group of armed bandits invaded a location at Shinkafi/ Kaura Namoda Road Zamfara State where about 5 of our Officers were on a Joint Taskforce Operations.
“In the process two of the officers of NSCDC Zamfara State Command were killed by the bandits after a prolonged gun battle while scores of the bandits were neutralized by the officers,” he said.
According to him, it is unfortunate the corps lost these brave and gallant officers.
“The corps however is poised to carry out her duties and support the Government of Zamfara State in combatting crimes,” he said.
He urged the general public to disregard mischief makers that pen unfounded stories and rumours.
