10 heroic Youth Corpers get N250k at National Daily Awards

Obasanjo commended Nigerians in diaspora who excelled in their respective fields on endeavour adding that; "the way you lay your bed is the way you will lie on it. The definition of success to me is making a place better than you find it. If you are going to be regarded as being successful, you must make things better". The Editor-in-Chief and Chief Executive Officer of National Daily, Deacon Sylvester Ebhodaghe, in his welcome remarks said the recipients were chosen on merit, adding that the award would spur them to make things better for other members of the public. The award ceremony which featured different categories like; entertainment, special recognition, heroes award among others was held at the Oriental Hotel in Lagos and attended by a retinue of diplomats, captains of industries, business moguls etc.

Ten youths have been honoured at the National Daily Awards for their outstanding contributions and laudable achievements during their service year as members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

The award ceremony which held at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos on Friday May 12, 2023, was chaired by Prince Julius Adelusi Adeluyi OFR mni, Chairman, Juli Plc, while former President Olusegun Obasanjo GCFR as Special Guest of Honour delivered the Keynote Speech.

The ten ex-corpers, Isiaka Mercy Lovelyn; Aladekomo Segun Tobi; Eze Daniel Uchechukwu; Omabe Chigozie Simon; Okoye Victor Chukwuemeka; Okonkwo Ifeoma Cheta; Onuzie Ngozika Emelda and Dr. Mbadugha Hardy Chukwudera also got N250,000 each.

Also the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) was honoured as the Most Strategic Government Establishment at the award ceremony.

Speaking at the event, National Daily Chief Executive Officer and Editor-in-chief, Mr. Sylvester Ebhodaghe, noted that at a time the NYSC is marking its 50th anniversary, it is symbolic and an honour to present the body for the National Daily Most Strategic Government Establishment.

He stated that the NYSC have shown efficiency and effectiveness in collation of data of annual graduation of students from tertiary institutions for the annual assignment, organizing orientation training to prepare the youths for national duty.

According to him the awards were made to encourage the recipients to do more in the areas they were recognized.

He said Nigerians who distinguished themselves should be recognized with a view to spurring them to do more and encourage others to do well.

Earlier, the Chairman of the occasion, Prince Julius Adelusi-Adeluyi, thanked National Daily for the awards, saying that they would spur the beneficiaries to work harder.

Adelusi-Adeluyi said that excellence awards should be given only to possible agents of change to motivate them.
