11-year-old stabbed to death while protecting pregnant mom

A 37-year-old man, Crosetti Brand, has been charged with kiling an 11-year-old child and attacking his 8-month-pregnant mother in a domestic violence attack in Chicago’s Edgewater neighborhood.

Police on Friday revealed disturbing details on what happened as they announced that Crosetti Brand now faces charges of first-degree murder, armed robbery, home invasion with a dangerous weapon, aggravated domestic battery and violation of an order of protection, among others.

According to Chicago police, he was taken into custody on Wednesday afternoon. He made his initial court appearance on Friday. In the courtroom, family members charged at Brand – trying to get through the court barriers to get to him. They had to be escorted out of the courtroom.

A judge ordered Brand to be held behind bars. CBS 2 reported that Brand has a violent history of domestic battery. He had just been released from jail on Tuesday, March 12.
