2 Likely outcomes if Tinubu backs out of 2023 presidency
It is no more news that the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress APC Asiwaju Bola Ahmed might be contesting for 2023 Presidential race. It should be recalled that Tinubu’s Loyalists have been reaching out to the People over 2023 Polls. Though, Tinubu may not be the only Candidate that will show up his interest to contest Presidential Race under the Platform of the Party. Meanwhile, the zoning system may likely favour Tinubu because APC Leaders has promised to zone Presidency to the South.
This implies that Tinubu will have every resources at his disposal to contest 2023 Presidential Race. However, Tinubu may decide not to contest Presidential race in 2023. The Point is that two things may likely happen, if Tinubu decides not to contest Presidential race in 2023. The first thing that may likely happen is that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will retire from Politics.
Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be more than seventy years of age by 2023. Therefore, If Tinubu is unable to contest Presidential race he will retire from Politics. Meanwhile, Tinubu happens to be one of the National Leader of the Party but he doesn’t have good relationship with the executives of the Party and as a result of his relationship with APC Leaders, He might not be given Presidential ticket and he may also decide not contest, if he thinks the Political atmosphere will not favour him.
Another thing that may likely happen if Tinubu decides not to contest 2023 Presidential Race is that Tinubu will heavily back another Presidential Aspirant in the Party. Tinubu will support any Presidential Aspirant under the Platform of the Party financially in 2023. It should be recalled that Tinubu sacrificed his Position as Vice President to Prof. Yemi Osinbajo. Osinbajo was Picked as President Muhammadu Buhari’s running mate in 2019 Presidential race. These are two things that may likely happen if Tinubu is not contesting 2023 Presidential Race.
Governor Mai Mala Buni who happened to be the National Chairman of the Party and some Leaders of the Party may not support Tinubu’s Presidential ambition in 2023. It should be recalled that Tinubu’s Loyalists complained of being marginalised in the Party in the just concluded Local Government Congress of the Party and that might be an indication that Tinubu will not be given the Presidential Ticket in the Party.
