FG appoints Anasi acting NAMA boss

…as Abdulsalam still in EFCC custody

As the embattled Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) is still held up by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) since taken into custody last Friday, the Federal Government has reportedly appointed an acting managing director for the agency.

News making the rounds suggests that the Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, paid an unscheduled visit to NAMA on Tuesday and had a closed door meeting with the directors of the agency where the Director of Engineering, Emmanuel Anasi was told to act in the stead of Managing Director, Ibrahim Abdulsalam who is being quizzed by the EFCC.

However, spokesperson of the agency, Olajumoke Adetona, denied knowledge of such directive from the minister for Anasi to act as NAMA’s MD, claiming there has been no official communication to that effect but once that is established, it will be communicated.

It would be recalled that NAMA’s MD, Ibrahim Abdulsalam, together with 3 other top management staff; Director of Finance and Accounts, Mrs. Clara Aliche, Acting Director of Procurement, Muyiwa Adegorite, General Manager (Finance) Nurudeen Segun Agbolade and Project Manager, Felicia Agubata, were arraigned by the anti-graft agents last Friday over fraud allegations.

National Daily gathered that the EFCC is said to be investigating the agency based on a petition submitted to it by some aviation unions regarding the agency’s impropriety on financial matters from 2012 till date.

Over N5billion was said to have been missing as the agency was not being responsive to the directive on Treasury Single Account (TSA).
