23-yr-old gets stuck in roof after raping, killing 29-yr-old neighbour,
A 23-year-old found his way into her neighbor’s room by night, raped the 29-year-old, killed her, and got stuck in his hiding where neighbors caught him the following day.
But Ikenna James was not alone. His friend, now on the run, went him.
The Ogun police command said the victim, Oluwtosin Adefisayo, graduated from Obafemi Awolowo University, and lived in the same compound as James at Ogijo.
James and his friend broke the ceiling to her room where she slept that night.
The neighbors including the parents of the suspect woke up in the morning to discover not just the break-in, but also the lifeless body of the lady.
When the local vigilante group arrived, James, holed up in the roof overnight came down on his own.
He was quickly held down while distress call was made to the police at Ogijo divisional headquarters.
The DPO Ogijo division, CSP Onatufeh Umoh, quickly led his men to the scene and got the suspect arrested.
“On interrogation, Ikenna James whose partner in crime has ran away confessed to the commission of the crime, he also informed the police that they decided to kill the victim after raping her because they discovered that she recognized them,” police spokesman Abimbola Oyeyemi said in a press release.
Ikenna’s parents described his arrest as good riddance.
“They said they had already given up on him as he is the black sheep of the family. They also appealed to authority concerned to ensure that appropriate punishment is awarded to him.
The police is on the heels of the accomplice, and commissioner of police, Lanre Bankole, has ordered James’ transfer the homicide department.
