3 kidnap suspects dragged to court in Lagos
Three suspected kidnappers, a woman and two men, were on Friday arraigned at Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for allegedly kidnapping and robbing a man.
National Daily gathered that they kidnapped one Luke Boniface at his residence in Ikorodu and robbed him of N9000 cash, while taking him away to their den on June 22.
The accused were identified as Animashaun Segun (39), Ronti Echiye (47), and Rafiu Akeem (45).
They are facing a seven- count charge of kidnapping and robbery.
According to the prosecutor, Sgt Kemi Adeniran, explained that the three accused committed the offences at No. 2 Alleluya Street, Temu, Poka, Epe, Lagos.
He further explained that the accused kidnapped the complainant and took him to an unknown destination.
While been held, the victim was hanged and severely battered before they gave him a phone to him call his family for ransom.
Adeniran told the court, “When the phone was given to the complainant to call his family, he spoke in a different language which the alleged kidnappers did not understand.
“In his calls, he described where he was to his wife in his native language, so his wife alerted the police and the place was bombarded.
“We found tear gas, handcuffs, and other dangerous weapons in the apartment he was kept,’’ the prosecutor said.
Adeniran said the offence contravened Section 409, 271, 173, 285, 171, 330, 78 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State, 2015 and punishable under same.
