3 sentence to death by hanging for raping & killing Unilorin student
A High Court sitting in Ilorin, Kwara State on December 13, sentenced 3 persons to death by hanging for raping & killing a 24-year-old University of Ilorin student, Olajide Blessing Omowumi
The convicts: Abdulazeez Ismail, Ajala Oluwatimileyin & Oyeyemi Omogbolahan were among the 8 persons accused of the hideous crime which occurred on June 2, 2021
They were brought before the court by the Kwara State government in suit No KWS/33c/c/2021 on 11-count charge bordering on armed robbery, illegal possession of firearms & rape
Recall that the 300-level Agricultural Sciences student was found dead in her sister’s home with her mouth gagged with clothes & bruises on her private part. An autopsy later confirmed she was raped & strangled to death
In the judgement delivered by Justice Ibrahim Adebayo Yusuf, the 3 convicts were found guilty of culpable homicide punishable with death, conspiracy to commit robbery, rape & conspiracy to murder
